Passage 01- Introduction

On Friday, March 29, 2019 I flew to the city of Nairobi in Kenya, Africa.  I arranged a very ambitious itinerary where I would be teaching God’s Word for 16 of the 17 days I would be there, at 9 different locations. God far and above exceeded all of my expectations. This is the first of 17 episodes I will be sharing about all of the awesome things God did.

So how did this all come about?

It started with my heart.  I have been studying and teaching the Bible for over 38 years.  In the fall of last year I began putting together a teaching series called “Abounding in the Good Works of God.”  It is based on this verse:

For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10  (Revised English Version)

God has a very special and important ministry for every member in the body of Christ.  In 1 Corinthians 12:13-23 He illustrates just how important everyone’s ministry is, even going so far as to say:

On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are much more necessary,
and those parts of the body we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor…
1 Corinthians 12:22-23a  (REV)

God put it on my heart to share this great news to each and every person in the body of Christ.  A passion was built within me to let people know how important they are to God and to inspire them to rise up and perform the ministry of good works He has called them to do.

Shortly after I told God that I was ready to go and teach wherever He would lead (“Here I am, send me!” Isaiah 6:8), a desire grew in my heart to travel to Kenya to deliver this message.  I knew nothing about Kenya or any other place in Africa.  Nor was I acquainted with anyone who lived there.  But I committed in my heart to God that I would go.

Once I made the commitment, God began working out all of the details.  There were so many things that happened where God clearly established this as His will for me through many signs and wonders.  He opened all of the doors.  I would be hosted by three different men during those 17 days:  These men had been vouched for by faithful Christians in the USA who had personal interactions with them while doing missionary work in Kenya.

I also discovered that someone I have known for a long time has been intimately involved with directing Segera Mission in Kenya.  The mission was started by a man when he was 84 years old.  To learn more about this, go to: www.segeramission.org  Under the ‘What We Do’ tab select “Pappy’s Story.”  I visited Segera Mission on April 1-2.

So that’s some of the background.  In the next passage we will jump right into my first day in Kenya!

God loves you, and so do I.

And God is able to make all grace come in abundance to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you can have an abundance for every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8  REV
